Isabel "Pepper" Roxas is an illustrator, graphic designer and traveler. She was born and raised in the Philippines—happily drawing and eating her way through the archipelago.

Isabel is currently busy drawing, designing and thinking good thoughts on a quiet block in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.

She earned her BA in Communication Arts at the Ateneo de Manila University and an M.S. Communication Design at Pratt Institute NY on a Fulbright scholarship. She honed her skills in typography, graphics and toy design under the tutelage of Tony diSpigna, Esen Karol, and Rick Goodwin.

She has been known to depict melancholy little girls, creepy vignettes involving a giant squid, and to associate with a small clan of ninja warriors (who shall remain nameless...). She has a taste for the Odd, and for tales that go awry.

To date, Isabel has illustrated several educational books for children in the Philippines including: The Luckiest Girl in the World (Insular Life), Juan Luna: Painter and Patriot (Ayala Foundation), Segunda (Adarna House), Oh! There’s a Baby in Mommy‘s Tummy (OMF Books), Maya Maya Jumbolaya (Tahanan Books) and many others. Her book Day at the Market (Adarna House) won the first Philippine National Book Award in 2010.
