About
Oh, well hello there and welcome!
I'm currently a visual communications student seeking a B.F.A. in graphic design from the University of Kansas along with a minor in both art history and business. While it's been a long time coming, I'm anxious to graduate come May 2012.
While I've had an extended stay in school, I am quite thankful for everything that I have gone through. I've been fortunate enough to have the opportunity to spend time abroad in Trier, Germany for nearly six months during the spring/summer of 2011. Having the chance to explore new and unfamiliar places helped me gain a new and fresh perspective when it comes to design. It opened my eyes to the bigger scheme of things and gave me a passion to see and learn more. Inspiration comes from everywhere and anything and I believe it was Jim Jarmusch who said it best:
Nothing is original. Steal from anywhere that resonates with inspiration or fuels your imagination. Devour old films, new films, music, books, paintings, photographs, poems, dreams, random conversations, architecture, bridges, street signs, trees, clouds, bodies of water, light and shadows. Select only things to steal from that speak directly to your soul. If you do this, your work (and theft) will be authentic. Authenticity is invaluable; originality is nonexistent. And don’t bother concealing your thievery. celebrate it if you feel like it. In any case, always remember what Jean-Luc Godard said: “It’s not where you take things from – it’s where you take them to.
