Solo UX designer retooling the content, structure, functionality and look of a 20-year old, highly successful product with a team of product managers and front-end developers. In this role I am responsible for all facets of the user experience, from advising on information architecture, through execution of interactive and visual design and management of associated styleguides.

December 2011 – August 2012
I joined the MyEdu team in 2011 as Senior Visual Designer, where I split my time between product marketing and UI/UX work. Accomplishments included developing and applying a new site-wide styleguide and comprehensive iconography to streamline the look and feel of our applications and brand presence, as well as leading design efforts for new product launches such as our Facebook application, ClassMe, and Faculty Beta program. Additionally, I designed all online ads and email marketing campaigns promoting seasonal and new product initiatives. In my role, I was able to both shape MyEdu's evolving products, then tell their stories through marketing channels in a way that fully leveraged my diverse skillset.

Marketing Manager / In-house Design Lead, Calendar Holdings, LLC
July 2010 – November 2011
Responsible for visual messaging and branding across a minimum of four retail concepts and 1,500 brick and mortar stores. Worked collaboratively with e-commerce division (Calendars.com) to cross-promote the site in stores, and provided digital artwork for their online ads, emails, and dynamic home page. Accomplishments included implementing a corporate rebranding with input from Pentagram Austin, integrating a 40% increase in storefronts with our acquisition of Borders’ seasonal retail business, and leading a lean marketing team to produce clean, consistent and compelling imagery to secure confidence in our growing brand family among consumers.

Senior Graphic Designer, Jupiter Band Instruments, Inc./KHS America Corp.
February 2007 – March 2009
Managed the aesthetic relationship of three brands under one corporate distributor. Designed catalogs, ads, brochures, POP displays, packaging, tradeshow graphics, and electronic publications. Collaborated with Web developer to publish campaigns online. Developed electronic workflow tracking process for use by the marketing department, updated project archive system, and co-maintained an image library for both internal and external clients. Synched print production schedules with overseas manufacturers, and shared graphic assets (photography, brand identities, layouts) with parent company in Taiwan.

October 2005 – November 2006
Revamped the image of a large wholesale jewelry distributor, updating the look and feel of their suite of catalogs, which ranged from 60-132 pages. Designed publications and collateral, art directing layouts and photography and styling sets. Operated Hasselblad digital camera and corresponding FlexColor software in photographer's absence. Produced layouts in InDesign and edited images in Photoshop. Performed color correction from proofs ripped in-house to achieve accurate product representation on press. Partnered with Austin-based ColorSciences to develop color management workflow.

March 2001 – September 2005
Designed museum communications including ads for print and television, brochures, invitations, art catalogs and the award-winning Quarterly magazine, wayfinding systems and signage from car wraps to building banners, and logos for museum exhibitions and programs. Art directed photography for use in promotional materials and image library. Production duties included preparing print-ready digital files in a variety of media, attending press checks, creating templates for standard communication tools, photo retouching and color correction. Responsible for updating department's weekly project status reports.

June 2000 – February 2001 (9 months)
While diversifying my design portfolio with freelance projects, I teamed with product managers at Nokia to build and document a workflow database to implement and track product evolution worldwide. The technical writing I produced in the course of my documentation was later published as an official corporate training manual. I have continued to use this UI, database and project management experience in planning user flows, creating digital archives and maintaining production schedules for subsequent employers.

Provided graphic design and multimedia services for boutique market research firm catering to Fortune 500 high-tech companies. Created layouts and digital artwork for a variety of sales, marketing and research projects, including promotional pieces, reports, and client training tools.
