the aliens

  • An antique box of plastic figurines branded PLASTICVILLE USA, which I found in a local thrift store, seemed ideal to convey the mood of Charles Bukowski's poem, The Aliens. I photographed this group of diminutive citizens, half-heartedly painted  by their previous owner, blithely going about their plastic lives. An unpainted woman, silently watching the bustle, serves as
    the melancholic narrator.
