Description
A poster series for a fictitious event at Colby-Sawyer College. This is a rough draft version, intended to help me self-critique. You always find new flaws and ideas when your work is out of Adobe and you can just look at it. I used stock imagery of insects and a snail from gettyimages.com and combined them with a picture of the cosmos. I'm featuring these lowly creatures with a sense of importance through scale and content to promote talks about humility, beauty and the origins of life in the context of the universe.

This is a fictitious event that I thought of to practice design on my own. The Veritas Forum holds debates between well known speakers about easy questions like the source of morality, evolution, the value and truth of religion etc. In this case they are coming to Colby-Sawyer College to discuss the origins, nature, and beauty of life in the context of science and religion. I colored in these critters with pictures of stars because large and small life and processes of all kinds would be touched on by this event. I think there is also visual interest in the contrast of bugs and stars and the atypical coloring and scale of these creatures on tabloid size posters. Bright blues on black make their distinct forms very visible, maybe jarring to some and hopefully attracting readers.
