Designed a film poster for the Turkish documentary, "Urva."
The film spins a precious tale of a decaying culture in a society that has no real place in its country
or the world at large. The movie featured the director's grandfather, who is subject of the poster.
I wanted to convey the deterioration of the heritage by creating a blown out image. To me, it
represents the fading of the culture while still conveying the pride of those who carried it on.
The hand-painted title symbolizes something human; built from scratch that cannot be easily copied or
repeated. This is to mirror the dying Urva culture, which is fighting against modern technology in which
things are mass-produced and hold less cultural significance.
