It also includes physical qualities of the specific mushrooms and their inherent characteristics. Embedded within each data plot is also a general colour profile of each profile of each mushroom, in addition to the colour of spore prints.
Given that mushrooms are more likely to be found in forested or mountainous areas, this Infographic aims to chronicle the resilient types that have managed to subsist in the harsh habitat of a concrete jungle. The piece serves as a loose guide for the everyman to distinguish the variety of mushrooms growing in his very own backyard. In addition, many of those not well versed in mycology, oft make the mistake of consuming inedible mushrooms due to misidentification. Hopefully this Infographic will serve to educate and prevent any mushroom related fatalities in the future.
From a gastronomical perspective, being able to identify edible species will create avenues for a whole new food source. In the 21st century, there has been a rise in the influx of urban foragers looking for new culinary experiences and a gratis supply of edible fare. Ultimately, the Infographic seeks to generate interest in mycology through simple use of symbols and colour to initiate amateurs into the extensive world of mushrooms and facilitate a better understanding of mushroom taxonomy and natural aesthetic qualities.
