36x24-inch typographic poster of Downtown Detroit composed entirely of type.
In this project I designed a typeface using the software application FontLab TypeTool. The typeface I designed was a heavy, neo-grotesque that would be well suited for 2D and 3D typography in commercials, headlines and movie titles. This is also characterized by less stroke contrast and more uniform design. I named it Audax- which means bold in Latin.
Typeface design is a response to particular environments and circumstances of time and place and it blends together personal creative expression, critical analysis, and, of course, an appreciation of type history.
