Set in Philadelphia, "The Vespers Tapes" tells of mafia murder, manipulation, and blackmail.
The cascading map of the Philly subway system is based on the novel's
frequent references to subway stops where mob crimes are committed.
Brightly colored vector shapes surrounding the map signify the dangerous activities that occur
in the book. The idea is that the "hazardous" colors (those found on roadside construction or
police barricades) caution readers of the perilous behaviors that the characters engage in.
