The Commons at the University of Kansas encourages unconventional thinking and interdisciplinary inquiry, across the sciences, arts and humanities. They host lectures, discussions, film series, and art installations. The logo is a reflection of the three disciplines coming together to find common ground. I used black and white imagery to reflect the academic history of Spooner Hall, the oldest building on campus and where the Commons is located. I contrasted the historical imagery with bright geometric shapes and dynamic typography, to reflect the fresh, forward-thinking and unconventional ideas discussed at the Commons.
