Description
Most San Franciscans would jump at the chance to disseminate their most obscure and hard come-by recommendations for restaurants, places to hike, and local goings-on. This Bay Area Bucket Map is an attempt to capture that local knowledge of "things to do here before you die" in an organic and natural way, the way in which one might conceptually recall and share it. It was constructed using with data obtained from the San Francisco Planning Department and GIS, finished in Adobe Illustator and printed on 48'' canvas.

Research was conducted to gather relevant pieces of information. Through traditional methods as well as extensive interviews and surveys, an initial list of hundreds was eventually distilled down to 67 essential "things to do."
  • Staying true to the organic nature of peer-to-peer sharing of information, there is room to learn and grow.
  • This map was created with the human scale in mind, and with an attempt to capture features relevant to normal modes of human connectivity; walking, biking, driving, public transportation, and political boundaries are all notated.
