Originally built in 1991, the Oceanarium underwent its first major overhaul in 2008. This exhibit leads guests on a journey through the northwest woods near a rushing river, to discover amazing animals and their habitats. Through use of materials such as glass and aluminum, the graphics are able to integrate gracefully into the “natural” surroundings.
Large scale panels throughout the exhibit identify the species, and deliver information that helps guests draw connections between animals, habitats and themselves.
Soaring way above the crowd, these 10-foot tall iconographic canvass banners represent the Pacific Northwest inhabitants. From left to right: pacific white-sided dolphins, river habitat, tide pool habitat, otters, sea lions, and belugas.
