Description
Set of Vinyl album covers for Funkadelic's "Maggot Brain", Herbie Hancock's "Head Hunters" and Wendy Carlos's "Switched On Bach"
  • Set of Vinyl Covers and labels for three innovative albums of the late 60's and early 70's.
  • Photos:
  • Album front and back covers + labels
  • Funkadelic's Maggot brain deals with many social issues of the time, one of them being of people of different races working together. The front and back both use Manicules concentrically revolving around typography. The front is meant to echo the psychedelic aspects of the music through use of brightly colored shifting hues. The back is meant to show hands of each race all pointing to the same thing, showing the unity between races.
  • Herbie Hancock: Head Hunters (1973)
  • The front design is a closeup of guitar frets and strings, offset many times to show the overlapping elements in the music of the album. The back is a closeup of synthesizer keys which have been shifted and distorted to integrate with the typography.
  • Wendy Carlos: Switched On Bach (1968)
  • Wendy Carlos created this revolutionary album that fused classical music with purely synthesizer based sounds. The front cover uses ornated design elements kaliedoscoped as it's background to give way to a classical feel, while the manicule normally used in printing as a pointing device is used to physically push the button, activating the design. The back contains an image created from an organ and a modular synthesizer, this is meant as a literal depiction of the musical elements fusing.
