- “Len Bias said his dreams came true when he was selected by Boston with the second pick of the ‘86 draft. Less than two days later, he would be dead.”
- After watching Kirk Fraser’s Without Bias, an award-winning documentary on the tragic death of basketball star Leonard Bias, I knew right then that I was going to do a project about it. The death of Len Bias shook America almost twenty-five years ago. It forever changed how this country responds to the recreational use of illegal drugs and is perhaps “the most socially influential moment in the history of modern sports”. This is such an incredible story and what is even more incredible is how many people have never heard about it.
With all of the recent stories about college athletes falling into all sorts of trouble, it seemed like the perfect time to create a project that would spread awareness and keep this story alive. In timeline fashion, Len Bias Commemorative Trading Cards chronicle the last three days of Len Bias’ life just in time for the twenty-fifth anniversary.
