This is a semester long cross-disciplinary project where graphic design students will collaborate with students in colleges of business and computer science to create mobile apps for android platforms. Design students will gain real world experience in designing mobile app interfaces; including knowledge in user experience, wire frames, market research, user testing, concept development, and design for screen based formats. Business and Computer Science students (which are in separate classes) contribute to the project with marketing and pricing strategy as well as technical implementation of the final product. This project prepares design students for careers in UI/UX, web design, and other mobile media. In addition this course explores emerging technologies, the role of the audience in all aspects of the design process, and what it means to be a designer in a dynamic digital environment. Programs used throughout the project are: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and Fireworks.
