Inspired in the traditional Japanese Geta I created this shoe that blends the striking look of the original sandals with the aesthetic of a slim sneaker.
Inspirational images of the japanese shoes named Geta, made of wood. And some models of Puma sneakers.
The traditional Geta is a very old design that is still used nowadays.
The pattern in the rubber sole it’s the ancient Seikaiha. This design has been largely used for kimonos and other textiles during centuries.
The upper is made of soft leather and the shoe rests on a bridge like rubber sole. The color of the sole resembles the grain and color of wood and the strips that cross the upper are a represetation of the thick cotton strips that hold the Getas to the foot.
