I designed this poster for the Society of Typographic Arts Student Poster Competition/Jack Weiss Scholarship, the theme was, “typography as meta communication.” I designed a poster that to me, illustrated the process of a typographic message. The background of the poster is made up of 5,616 letter forms from 212 different typefaces to illustrate the catalogue of typographic tones we as typographers choose from. The foreground layer of the poster represents what the reader sees, when we read words we don’t see every letter form that makes up the word, all the letter forms sort of blend together to make the overall message. With a clear concept and hard work, as I put into all of my projects, this poster and I won the STA Competition.
