I designed this poster for the Society of Typographic Arts Student Poster Competition/Jack Weiss Scholarship, the theme was, “typography as meta communication.” I designed a poster that to me, illustrated the process of designing a typographic message. The background of the poster is made up of 5,616 letterforms from 212 different typeface families to illustrate the catalogue of typographic "tones" we may choose from. The foreground layer of the poster represents what the reader sees, when we read words we don’t focus on every letter that makes up the word, all the letters sort of visually blend together to make the overall voice of the message. This poster and I won the STA Competition.
