Postcards From My Country Journal

POSTCARDS FROM MY COUNTRY is a service learning initiative through the Jimenez-Porter Writers House at the University of Maryland. The program pairs UMD student mentors with ESOL (English as a Second Language) students from Northwestern High School in Hyattsville, Maryland. Students in the program have recently immigrated to the United States. At the end of the semester, the students' poems are published in a bound book which is distributed throughout the community. The project is supported by the National Endowment for the Arts, the Maryland State Arts Council, and the University of Maryland.
In addition to designing the layout for this book, I also managed the print production and used one of my own paintings for the cover image.
