University of Denver Athletics asked us to create an invitation for the opening of their new lacrosse stadium. At the time, it was the only Division I lacrosse-specific stadium in the nation. The late Peter Barton, a pioneer in cable television, was to be honored as well, with the stadium name. Barton's widow provided a portrait, and the quote from the front of the invitation came from his bestselling book Not Fade Away: A Short Life Well-lived.
To keep costs down while still providing an emotional impact, the invitation was printed in a one-color metallic blue on Strathmore Elements Columns textured stock. A translucent flysheet featuring a rendering of the stadium was printed with a complimentary silver metallic ink. The invitation was gatefolded, with a gap in between the gatefold edges, teasing the viewer with a glimpse of the stadium inside.
