How does one design their own wedding invitation? This was a hard answer. An answer that is still not truly defined almost a year after my wedding. I went through several "versions" of my wedding invitation to finally settle upon this one.
As shown, this piece is highly typographical with me and my husband's last names constructing the maze, "Carroll" and "Dickens". I went with this approach as I am a fan of abstraction and icon imagery. Since we are both movie buffs and art addicts (I am a graphic designer and he is an illustrator), I decided to go with a design that would merge the two interests. The cover design of the postcard is a merging of a classic movie poster layout, with our names at the top and the title of the movie "The 7 year maze", and a gallery exhibition invite (it helps that I design all of the promotional postcards for the RAC Gallery).
