Description
This is my senior thesis done in my last semester at Edinboro University. Since I am a huge soccer fan I decided to create and design my own soccer team for the MLS. I chose to locate the team in Orlando, Florida and named them the "Wildfire." After doing a lot of research I came to the conclusion that the southeast region of the United States is in need of soccer in the community. The team will add to the growing popularity that soccer has brought to the United States as well as bringing tough competition to the other teams in the league. After designing the logo I took it further and designed an Identity Manual for the team. Included in the manual is the identity colors, logo usage, the logo applied to t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, billboards, advertisement posters, and the typography used. The billboards are designed to show a progression and also the revealing of the new soccer team. Each billboard shows the burning of a white piece of paper that slowly reveals the Wildfire Logo. They are located on a main highway so that a lot of people see this billboard every day they drive in the city. Each billboard would be up for a week at a time and then change to the next one. For the people who drive into the city everyday, they would see the burning of the billboard and see the revealing of the Wildfire Logo.

  • These posters are advertisements to recognize the new team. They are meant to be placed next to eachother and read from left to right. I used three slogans in the posters: Ignite the Passion, Spark the Fire, Crank the Heat.  These phrases are related to fires but also relate to the teams passion for the game of soccer.
