My re-design of the MHLA website (original can be found here: www.mhave.gouv.ht) is presented through user scenarios. A page describing a fictional person who would be inclined to use the MHLA website precedes each click-through. At the end is a simple sitemap of the entire website.
Project Objectives
Ministère des Haitians Vivant a l’Etranger (MHAVE) is the Ministry of Haitians Living Abroad, which reaches out to Haitians living in other countries in an effort to reconnect them to their homeland. In this time of postearthquake crisis, Haiti is in dire need of donations of money, volunteers, and resources. The country is a tangle of governmental, non-governmental, and private organizations, and it can be difficult to know who to help and how. MHAVE wants to make it easier and more compelling for non-resident Haitians (and others) to contribute. Design a new website for MHAVE, which will be a multi-language portal for Haitians abroad to access information and aid organizations, to be launched around the one-year anniversary of the earthquake.
Project Goals
To design a website prototype; to create a clear navigational pathway through complex layers of information;
to make the website easy to navigate for a variety of users with very different needs; to take a “big picture”
approach to the supplied information and organize it according to your own vision; to work in a team, if you
choose, and co-develop the website while maintaining a degree of personal design responsibility.
