Maya's Alphabet

After my daughter Maya was born I wanted to give her a creative gift that was both unique to her and that she could grow with and learn from. I decided to create an alphabet composition that could act as an educational tool as well as a piece of art which she could explore. I chose Bauer Bodoni as the base typeface for most of the characters because of the beautiful line variation and it’s editorial style that is a New York signature, where Maya was born. I documented and edited the whole process from initial sketches to final hanging print.
