Mason Font Family

The project was to create packaging for a font to be sold in MoMa's museum shop and online.
  • We were to imagine that MoMa was going to display fonts that were for purchase inside the museum shop and online. We each picked a font out of a hat and I ended up taking Mason which was created by Jonathan Barnbrook with Virus Fonts. We were to design an "envelope" of which the font was displayed in on the shelf, an 11 x 17 poster, a reply card, a 750 word history of the typeface and the designer, and also utilize all character sets for the typeface.  I did some research on Barnbrook and found him to be pretty mysterious and very controversial. I thought the font played right along with it, noting the mysterious play on the Free Masons symbol.
