Description
Typographic interpretation of a love song.
  • A few years ago I was in a band and I still absolutely love the material I wrote back then (yes, I wrote over 100 songs).

This project has no greater pretention than to just share this song that happens to be my personal favourite.

It is an unusual approach to love: It talks about being frightened by the feeling of losing control, of not knowing exactly what’s happening inside.

  • Simple
  • Complicated? Enigmatic?
  • Lost?
  • A fortress?
  • Or a hole you can't see the bottom?
  • This is actually repeated 3 times in the song...
  • Out of the blue?
  • Some parts of the process

I firstly thought about working on a single poster. However, the use of so many typographic styles wouldn’t work very well if put together on the same sheet.

  • After deciding the typographic concept, the sheets were drawn by hand
  • I also thought about making it more colourful, but again, it is meant to be very raw, so the simpler the better. However, i added some splatter using a sponge.
I firstly thought about working on a single poster. However, working on each verse separately would make it easier to emphasize the feeling and confusion behind the song as a whole. In addition, the use of so many typographic styles wouldn’t work so well if put together on the same sheet.

  • Sheets ready to binding.
  • As to the making, the hardest part was binding, because i used e very thick cotton paper.

  • The cards have been turned onto a booklet, here shown with its case.
  • The cover and the case were piece of cake, and to emboss the title i simply put a piece of cardboard cut before pasting the surface paper.
