In late summer 2012 I was asked by the Hopscotch Music Festival to contribute an artist designed/screen printed souvenir poster to commemorate one of the festival-sponsored day parties. While still a relatively new festival, Hopscotch has gained a reputation as one of the best in the country. The free day parties have proven to be integral to the character of the event and the performances here are often some of the weekend's best.
My goal was to create a single poster for a 2-day event that did not privilege one day's lineup over the other. The present layout solves this problem and allows the the viewer to determine her/his own hierarchy.
In keeping with the theme of duality, the imagery references the Harvest (Sept. 7th) and Hunter's (Sept. 8th) moons that occur near the time of the festival – in 2012, on 9/29 and 10/29 respectively.
