  • The Forum of Civics Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to preservation efforts primarily in the Houston area. This brochure was created to commemorate the historical significance of the organization, the building and its surrounding gardens. The finished size is 5 x 7 inches.
  • The cover reads, "No Athenian should ever confess that he neglected public service for the sake of private fortune."; the organization's motto. The motto is "wrapped" around the entire cover of the booklet and de-bossed with a black foil stamp.
  • This photo depicts one of the founders of the city of Houston, William Hogg, as he is walking his dog. A special halftone black and silver ink was mixed to mimic the photography reproduction methods of the era, i.e. printing on metal backed plates.
  • The brochure printed four-color process with two spot colors and a special halftone black mixed with silver metallic for select photos. The paper selected was Mohawk 100lb Felt Finish for the cover and 70lb Mohawk Crystal White for the text.
  • The brochure was selected for inclusion in AIGA:29, and is in the permanent archives at the Denver Art Museum.
  • This project was completed while previously employed at Savage. Paula Savage: Creative Director. Doug Hebert: Design Director. Daren Guillory: Art Director, Designer, Illustrator.Special thanks to Dave at Studio Bennett for photographing the piece.
