Editorial Portrait
Larry David
This is a project for my Fall 2011 Editorial Illustration class. We were asked to create an image of a specifically recognizable person that makes a visual commentary and expresses a point of view. I chose to depict Larry David as a Byzantine icon of a saint to make a statement about his character as grumpy, dishonest, generally un-saintly person. I also thought this would be comical as he's a well-known Jew.
I drew this drawing by hand in pencil based on LOTS of reference images of Larry David, traced it in pen, and then colored the image digitally.
