Draper Fisher Jurvetson (DFJ), a leading SiliconValley venture capital firm, sought a new website that would set itapart from its competition. Through analysis of DFJ’s competition, interviews with DFJ team members, and a look at what differentiatesDFJ, we concluded that the new site should project DFJ’s globalpresence, segment the information on the site so different audiencescan quickly access the information they seek, and have a look thatreflects DFJ's innovation and success.
ScottDesign presented DFJ with seven unique designs from which to choose, all meeting the requirements we developed during the discovery phase, and each with a certain technical and design “wow” factor. The finaldesign for the site features interactive cards that provide visitorsquick and visually compelling ways to find information about DFJ teammembers, investments, and partner funds. Each page includes additionalinformation in sections that can be opened or closed, allowing visitorsto tailor the information they see. And, the home page presents a clearpath for each of the audiences DFJ wanted to target.
ScottDesign delivered templates for every section of the site, and DFJproduced the site in-house. Scott Design created Flash animations andthe database back-end for running the cards, news, and widgets. The DFJwebsite is database-driven, so adding new people, companies, and fundsdoesn’t require any programming. Scott Design also designed theinternal portal, which is used by all the professionals in the DFJGlobal Network.
