This piece makes a social issue statement regarding the teaching of creationism and evolution in our public schools. The concept is decoding the truth of our origin and creation. Part of this process is taking the blinders off, and being open to Darwin’s theory of evolution. A common element throughout the piece is the actual human DNA sequence, and the four letters forming this sequence, A, C, G, T.
The viewer opens the piece to see a faint outline of a human face composed of the DNA sequence, with a band over his eyes, representing an individual who is blinded to the truth. The piece is a journey inward, into the depths of our creation. This is further reinforced by a journey inward in tonality with each card. Many subtle details in the piece further reinforce the concept on a multitude of different levels.
