This Cochin typeface poster was selected to be permanently hung in the design classroom of my school.
Any typeface with a history was available for research. Looking over the ones in my FontBook, this one caught my eye. The most predominant feature is the sophisticated appeal of the italics.
My intention was to mirror the a playfulness of the 1914 France while retaining an clean style on a 12 x 16in poster. The end result looks like a modern take on 1910′s design. Everything is visible from a distance, except the bottom block of text which is a list of “French” things (detail of which can be seen above).
