- SculpTour
Identity and information design for public art exhibit - This was a dream project. First, the objective was to promote public art. (Love it!) Second, I got to work with some fun, brilliant, and creative people. Denise Brinson, Director for Economic Development for the City of Suwanee, Georgia and her team of Lynne DeWilde and Toni Shrewsbury were tasked with creating an identity and promotional material for a walking tour of original sculpture on loan from various artists around the country. The result was SculpTour.
We created a logo, a flyer announcing the SculpTour debut, a brochure and an accompanying information piece for prospective donors. (SculpTour is funded through grants and private donations.) The central piece was the brochure. One side contained details about each sculpture and the artists who created them. The other side was a map illustrating the walking tour and location for each piece of art. A QR code was printed in the brochure with instructions for patrons to vote their favorite piece into the city's permanent collection. All this fun information needed to fold down to a pocket size.
We limited the color palette to three (exception being the logo colors for three premier corporate sponsors).
Initially a flyer was created for the opening of the exhibit. Side one explained the City's public art initiative and promoted the exhibit sponsors. An icon was created for each sculpture and placed in its location on the reverse side map.
Overhead view of Suwanee Town Center created in Adobe Illustrator from an aerial photo. A monochromatic palette was used so the exhibit icons, done in a red to match the logo, would more easily be seen.
The 4.25" x 5.75" brochure was created in Adobe InDesign using the FOLDRite Template Master for CS3 Plugin.
Printing, scoring and folding were done by Standard Press, Atlanta, Georgia.
Final piece was 25.5"x11" flat, short-folded lengthwise by 1/2" inside to reveal instructions on how to vote for a favorite sculpture online at suwanee.com. A subsequent accordion fold produced 12 panels, two of which have a QR code that leads patrons' smart phones directly to the voting site.
The four-page sponsorship brochure folded to 8.5 x 11" .
Pictured are the front and back pages with the application insert immediately behind. In back is the center spread.
