Invest Your Sense is a campaign for Big Brothers Big Sisters that targets retirees to become youth mentors.

Retirees make ideal candidates for Bigs. Typically, they have time to spare, lead stable lives, and are settled in their area of residence. This results in a stable role model that can be in a child’s life. In addition, they have a lifetime’s worth of knowledge and life lessons to share. This combination ensures a mentoring relationship that will help a child fulfill their potential.

To portray the investment concept, the design is inspired by financial infographics. However, I made them more playful with a vibrant color palette to reflect the uplifting spirit that BBBS embodies, and the enjoyable experience of a mentoring relationship.

This results in a stable role model that can be in a child’s life. In addition, they have a lifetime’s worth of knowledge and life lessons to share.     The theme of the campaign is investment, which is a topic most retired professionals would have some experience with, and respond well to.  To portray the investment concept, the illustrations are inspired by financial infographics. However, I made them more playful with a vibrant color palette to reflect the uplifting spirit that BBBS embodies, and the enjoyable experience of a mentoring relationship.
  • The first component is the information booklet, which speaks to retirees who are not yet involved in BBBS.
  • As previously stated, the illustrations within the booklet are in an infographic style to play off of the investment theme.
  • The coins are the "sense" that the retirees/Bigs would be investing in today's youth.
  • The next component is the promotional object, which I chose the piggy bank, since it is a fun and youthful way to portray investment.
  • The next part is the banner, which would be hung in places which retirees typically frequent; such as banks...
  • ...and shopping centers.
  • The last component is the "Activity Finder" website.  In designing this campaign, I worried that perhaps retirees/older individuals may not know what activities to do with a child if they joined the program.  In response to that worry I designed this site, which would help the Big find a great activity that is approved by BBBS.  The site also allows them to submit an activity they think should be included on the site, and see what other Bigs and Littles have been up to recently. 
  • The site is first organized by region, and then the Big can sort through activities in a variety of ways, or search for another region.
  • The Big can then view activities and quickly find out their price, rating, recommended age group, and time needed, and select where their journey will take them next.
