Description
Bedlam Theatre partnered with performing artists Harry Waters Jr. and Molly Van Avery to embark on a series of conversations around the proposed Minnesota Marriage Amendment. Supported by funds from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council, Bedlam's Making Amends project is designed to broaden the conversation from a rallying cry of "Vote No" to the marriage amendment to a larger conversation around the meaning of family, commitment, and society for the entire spectrum of sexual orientation and gender identity.

  • The Save The Dates promoted the two parts of Making Amends: The Pre-Election Convergence and The Post-Election Cabaret.
  • The Living Room Tour took place in a variety of living spaces around the Twin Cities, where Harry and Molly performed short pieces about their experiences being raised by queer parents/being queer and raising a family, followed by a facilitated conversation with guests.
  • The Pre-election Convergence was an oppurunity for those who attended the various living room tours to come together for a larger conversation about the equitability of life, love, and happiness for all Minnesotans.
  • Bedlam Theatre's very own Andi Cheney explains Making Amends.
  • The Post-Election Cabaret served as an evening of creative reflection as everyone recovered and/or reimagined what’s next for Minnesota.
  • Harry Waters Jr. performs at the Bedlam Post-Election Cabaret.
