Beautyfly

This was a video project that had to be inspired by a current video artist. My choice was Hayao Miyazaki, a Japanese manga artist and film director. Most of Miyazaki's films demonstrates his ability to beautifully portrays a perspective that gives interests to small things or happenings in the surroundings that in an unique manner.

I wanted to make a video that deals with a positive perspective that could make the world look beautiful, even the small things that get ignored. This shows my belief that art is one of the most powerful languages that can change a person's perspective.

In this video, a butterfly flies into a room that has no color and light, and as the butterfly flies through the room, the room slowly becomes colorful. The butterfly represents a metaphor of art giving life to the room.

The video was installed at a corner of a hallway where people might pass by easily. The video was set to loop in a box and by looking into the pedestal to watch the video, the viewer pays attention to the inattentive details of the environment.
