Banned Book Week

Advocacy poster for Banned Book Week. Each year, Banned Book Week challenges rampant book censorship in democratic arenas, such as public libraries and public schools. The American Library Association staunchly believes that it is unconstitutional to restrict the expression of a person, simply because the ideas are unconventional or unpopular. The design thus incorporates a page from George Orwell’s 1984—appropriating themes of oppression and censorship to buttress the meaning of the poster.
