- Amero Currency Design
redesign of paper currency for Canada, U.S, and Mexico - The North American Currency Union is a concept currently in the works to develop a currency that would be used between Canada, The United States, and Mexico. It is similar to the European Union (or euro) between European countries today. As this concept continues to develop, I believe it will gain support, and one day, become a reality. I wanted to give the amero a real design.I chose to depict the top six most endangered species of North America on my bills. This is an attempt to call users to conserve resources. The human desire to consume is truly alarming. The spending habits of American countries have put their people and their environment at risk. The endangered state of these and other animals exists as a testament to our culture of incredible over consumption. The bills feature grid structures designed to aid in the prevention of counterfeit bills. These grids were developed using methods of reduction and deconstruction that result in highly graphic realizations. The size differences of each bill aid the user in immediate recognition of denomination. This is aimed to help any user, but more specifically, the visually impaired. The average lifespan of a paper bill only about two years. The production of these bills uses environmentally friendly papers that can be re-used. Also in use are highly counterfeit-proof, but environmentally safe inks.
