Africa: Illustration

I intended to draw something super intricate but within a very specific design style. After researching I stumbled upon African textile patterns and I knew this was going to be the art style. At the same time I also wanted a subject matter that was related to African heritage which is why I chose a ceremonial mask.

I first did a pen drawing > then scanned it and redrew it in Photoshop > then added in the color using a graphics tablet. Those three steps are shown in the image preview. Click to enlarge! All in all it took an estimated 75 hours to complete. 75 hours well spent I say. I even got the opportunity to sell a few printed copies of it.
