A new strand for Edinburgh International Festival 2018 was Light on the Shore, a series of high profile live music events at Leith Theatre. Working with Neu Reekie, Hidden Door and other leading arts groups, EIF programmed a series of gigs in this historic venue, and they asked us to create an identity and campaign that would complement our design work for the main festival programme.
We had to balance the task of communicating a diverse line-up with designing an identity that would work equally well on digital posters, social media, and at the venue itself. Taking the theme of light and Edinburgh International Festival’s iconic yellow colour, we created a flexible identity that morphed according to the application, from a simple halo to a more dynamic sunburst pattern. Bold type was chosen for the listings and Light on the Shore identity.
