Kedma Solar was founded in 2016 with a mission to "to make solar power readily available to everyone". Kedma provides customers with PV solar arrays, Shemesh smart home energy monitors, and renewable energy credits all at no cost, which they hope will lead to an energy independent Israel. Sababa Design came on board before their company launch. We were asked to design their company website and to devise marketing strategy in order to attract customers through their sales pipeline. Through discussion, it was decided that the root of the problem was not just a website. They needed an entire identity system, which marketing and sales can be focused around.
The Kedma Solar identity is designed with the flat design style. Reoccurring motifs and elements appear throughout its web and print collateral. The owners wanted a company that was genuine and caring, and a brand that reflected this. The decision was made to use illustrated content because the alternative stock images felt inhuman and disingenuous.
Social media become the primary marketing tool, as it was the best way to connect to customers directly. Kedma’s tone online is light hearted. They use every Friday’s #ShabbatShalom shoutout as a way to connect to customers and the greater region by posting fan submitted sunsets every week. We created a brand ambassador ‘Solar Moses’ who advocates to join the #ChoSUNPeople. Solar Moses is a reference to the biblical definition of ‘kedma’ and provides tongue n cheek dialogue with his fan base.
