Queen of Diamonds

  • My Queen of Diamonds just resurfaced after many moves and I am delighted to share this 80's project with you. This was a project from my Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) days, and yes, before digital graphics. We were to design an image that would hold up reversed to a mirror image, and could be spliced together to form a playing card of our choice. Love a challenge! Marilyn, the Queen of Diamonds, was hand drawn with ink. The drawing was processed on photographic paper and fixed to the art board. I filled in the middle area with balloons using Pantone color sheets, gingerly cutting and applying. Finally I drew the outline of the white balloons with ink.
