Color exploration of my skin color.
A response to the created simplicity of categorizing cultural origins, specifically to the color assigned to a determined race or ethnic group.
Individual history is not determined by one’s skin color, there is hidden meaning embodied in ourselves. Only by looking closely, the immeasurable cultural heritable can be discovered. The result of seeing, analyzing and interpreting the environment by our brain, is just a translation of light interacting with textures, comparable to the endless dance of the light with the human body.
The color study made from Carlos’s self- portrait, resulted in 1,620 different colors, built from: color selections, tones, lights and shades. Reminding that the complexity of our color skin cannot be simplified, the complexity embedded in our bodies goes beyond one color.
