School project highlighting statistics around suicide. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the US, and talking about suicide and understanding it better is necessary to help prevent further suicides.
We are asked to create an awareness poster for a subject that was important to us, and I feel suicide is commonly misunderstood and mistreated. When doing research on my subject I realized that the majority of students didn't have a good understanding about the scope of suicide in the U.S. nor were was there much information out there working to fix this. I was inspired by OSHA workplace-accident posters to use data and alarming colors to draw attention to my cause, rather than images or illustrations. It was a challenge to get as much information as I thought was needed into the poster in a clearly readable and concise manner, and I look forward to doing more infographics in the future.
