    About Project

A publication which explores the border as a divisive line from the dual perspectives of a human and of a machine. Line_Boundary_Trace itself is split by these perspectives, the left half of each spread archiving satellite images of land where border conflicts (from 1846 to 2020) have been fought between nations. Its right pages show the evolution of artificially generated images of those same landscapes, becoming animated when the book is interacted with as a flip book.  With the images of different locations becoming distilled into a singular gestural stroke that morphs over time, losing specificity and familiarity, the book becomes a speculative archive and a potential lens to challenge the arbitrariness in which we lay claim to our borders.
