About
Creativity has always been an essential part of Amanda’s life. She grew up with a mother who taught art in the public schools, and also taught her daughter how to communicate her ideas visually. It wasn’t until she began college that she considered making something she loved to do a full-time career. Amanda signed up for a few art and design courses, and after one semester she was hooked and has not looked back since. Amanda holds an Associate’s Degree in Business Arts from Tidewater Community College and in 2011 graduated summa cum laude from Old Dominion University with her BFA.
During Amanda’s time at ODU, she successfully established and ran their first AIGA Student Group. After graduation, she was asked to serve on the AIGA Hampton Roads Chapter Board as the Education Director, serving as a liaison between the local colleges and universities. While serving as the Education Director, Amanda was able to combine her passion for design and education to assist students and peers. She planned specific student-oriented events and activities as well as established the first AIGA Hampton Roads Mentor Program. Amanda recently stepped into the position of Chapter Vice President and is excited for this newest endeavor.
Amanda is currently working full time as a freelance designer and her projects range from print to web. In the short amount of time she has been in the industry, Amanda has gained valuable experience working on projects for clients such as Aflac, Jefferson Lab, Virginia Beach Economic Development and Hope House Foundation to name a few. She is currently seeking to expand that list and build creative and valuable partnerships with awesome clients. Amanda loves a challenge and intends to pave her own way in life.
