My years working in film, theatre, and newspaper production have given me invaluable experience with story analysis, and I love searching for the "perfect" image/font to display the written material in the best light possible. Read Less

The house I grew up in had no television, so reading was my primary occupation/ preoccupation. Books were my biggest avenue to learning about the world beyond, and to understanding human potential/limitations. I felt and still feel a tactile safety with the printed page that I do not experience with electronic mediums.
These days, the emphasis on producing bulk amounts of written material in the fastest time possible has led to the dismissal of many typographical standards. I believe there is still a place for the appreciation of well-designed books, and that our culture will gradually move toward re-embracing the visual delight of a finely typeset page.
I take pride in maintaining the high standards of print design & typography that have evolved through the centuries. All the "little touches" (including appropriate use of small caps, proper ellipsis spacing, em spaces vs. en spaces, & old-style numbers) were developed for good reasons by generations of printers who cared about the visual rhythm and feel of the reader's experience. These days, knowing and applying these techniques makes all the difference in producing a quality printed product. Read Less
